Ben Porat
Founded in 2003 by Ariel Ben Shitrit and his family, the winery began as a modest dream producing 5,000 to 8,000 bottles annually and selling them directly to a circle of devoted patrons.
Two decades later, in 2023, the vision expanded: a permanent home for the winery was established in partnership with an investor from Jerusalem, marking a new era of growth.
Tasting Note
TASTING NOTES: NOSE: DARK AND PURPLE FRUITS WITH A DELICATE BOUQUET OF VANILLA AND HINTS OF COFFEE. THE WINE IS SMOOTH AND ROUND, WITH A VIBRANT RUBY COLOR. PALATE: A FORTIFIED SWEET RED WINE WITH A FULL BODY, REFINED TANNINS, AND A LONG, PLEASANT FINISH—PERFECT FOR THE END OF A MEAL. WHEN PAIRED WITH CHOCOLATE SOUFFLÉ OR BASQUE CAKE WITH MAPLE AND NUTS, IT DELIVERS A LASTING AND ENJOYABLE MOUTHFEEL. TO PRESERVE THE FRESH FRUIT CHARACTER, FERMENTATION LASTED ONLY THREE DAYS, FOLLOWED BY PRESSING AND THE ADDITION OF ALCOHOL TO REACH THE DESIRED LEVEL WHILE RETAINING THE GRAPES’ NATURAL SUGARS.
