When Don Alfonso ruled Spain in the 14 century, he realized that the prosperity of Spain depended on bringing people of disparate background together.
He called its vineyards “the paradise of heaven” and proclaimed “its castles were gladdened by its good wines.”
The vineyards in Chile from where these wines come are said to have been settled by Don Alfonso’s descendants.
Winemaker Héctor Saldivia has produced this wine as a testament to this great king. Saldivia obtained his Agronomy degree at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and later specialized in Oenology.
In 1995 he became a member of the Agronomist Oenologist Engineers Association of Chile. His professional career began in the viticulture field developing important projects foremerging wine industry sectors. He later became the wine cellar manager for a boutique vineyard.
